Outgoing and athletic, Gunnar loves watching, playing and talking about sports. The batting cage is a favorite destination for this 9-year-old. You can also find him teaching new tricks to his dog, Hank.
Gunnar was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, an inflammatory bowel disease, in 2011. He travels to Children’s from his home in Lincoln to see pediatric gastroenterologist Dr. Anna Trauernicht and Kristin Madden, his favorite nurse practitioner. Every eight weeks he checks into the Infusion Center at Children’s where he receives IV medication to manage Crohn’s and keep him feeling his best.
Gunnar’s mom is a private duty registered nurse with Children’s Home Healthcare in Lincoln. She says there was never a question of where she would take Gunnar for his care. They appreciate the expertise of the GI team and the way everyone at Children’s treats Gunnar like he’s their one and only patient.
