Central-Line Associated Bloodstream Infections
An estimated 30,100 central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) occur in intensive care units and wards of U.S. acute care facilities each year. These infections are usually serious infections typically causing a prolongation of hospital stay and increased cost. CLABSI can be prevented through proper insertion techniques and management of the central line.
We calculate this date by taking the number of related infections per 1,000 catheter line days. Each day the patient has a catheter in place counts as one catheter day
